William R. Heath; 91; of North Belle Vernon; died Friday; Jan. 18; 2008; in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Pauline Schmidt; he was born in North Belle Vernon on Dec. 7; 1916. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; the American Legion Post 659; the Charleroi VFW and the Belle Vernon and Fayette City Golden Agers. Bill and his wife enjoyed playing cards at the Center on the Hill. He loved bowling; square dancing and camping at Hillegrass Campground. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II; he retired in 1982 from the Allenport plant of Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel Company. After retirement; he and his wife wintered in Ft. Myers Beach; Fla. Survivors include his wife of 64 years; Althea Pocky Heath; one daughter and son-in-law; Sharon and John Zunic; and one brother; Fred Schmidt; all of Belle Vernon; one sister; Margaret Louis; of Fairless Hills; three grandchildren; Kimberly Zunic; John William Zunic and his friend; Jennifer Mohn; and Eric Zunic; and one great-grandson; Bradley Heath Orr. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC.; 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon; (724-929-5300); www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the First Presbyterian Church on Thursday; Jan. 24; at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Suzanne Currie officiating. Entombment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The officers; deacons and elders of the First Presbyterian Church will meet in the funeral home to hold services on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
