Obituary

William R. Heath, 91, of North Belle Vernon, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Pauline Schmidt, he was born in North Belle Vernon on Dec. 7, 1916. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Post 659, the Charleroi VFW and the Belle Vernon and Fayette City Golden Agers. Bill and his wife enjoyed playing cards at the Center on the Hill. He loved bowling, square dancing and camping at Hillegrass Campground. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired in 1982 from the Allenport plant of Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel Company. After retirement, he and his wife wintered in Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Althea Pocky Heath, one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Zunic, and one brother, Fred Schmidt, all of Belle Vernon, one sister, Margaret Louis, of Fairless Hills, three grandchildren, Kimberly Zunic, John William Zunic and his friend, Jennifer Mohn, and Eric Zunic, and one great-grandson, Bradley Heath Orr. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, (724-929-5300), www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Suzanne Currie officiating. Entombment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The officers, deacons and elders of the First Presbyterian Church will meet in the funeral home to hold services on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
