Obituary

William Palfrey of 403 Belle Vernon Apartments died Thursday,Sept.27,1984,at 9:40 a.m. in the Mon Valley Hospital. He was 81. Mr.Palfrey was born Jan 15,1903,in Houston,Pa.,a son of the late Frank and Marion Tonks Palfrey. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife,Olive Wells Palfrey,1972. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area,Mr.Palfrey was Protestant by faith. He retired in 1968 as a machinist for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Allenport Plant. Survivors include four sons,Robert C.of Warren,Ohio,Richard L.of Dunnellon,Fla.,L.D. of Warren,Ohio,and James W.of Belle Vernon,six daughters,Mrs.Richard (Delores) Behanna,Mrs.Charles R.(Billie) Whitelaw,Mrs.Clifford (Loretta) Sterner and Mrs.Kenneth (Sherry) Strenske,all of Belle Vernon,Mrs.Louis (Lois) Krecek of Cheswick and Mrs. William S.(Lillian) Mort of Newport Richey,Fla.,one sister,Mrs.John (Anna) Morgan of Belle Vernon,14 grandchildren,eight great-grandchildren,and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held on Sunday,Sept.30 at 1 p.m. with the Rev.Helen B.Cochrane,pastor of Rehoboth United Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
