Obituary

Rev. William M. Parker,aged 81 years,Daisytown,died Thursday,Nov. 11,1954,at 7:15 p.m. in Brownsville Hospital. Born in Centerville,Ala.,Oct.17,1873,the deceased began his ministry at the age of 21,and from that time had never been without a church. He was moderator of the Blunt Springs Assn.in Bessmer, Ala.,and moderator at Harlem County,Ky.,where he served as pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church,before coming to Monessen. Four churches were built under his pastorship,among them the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He had served as pastor in churches in Alabama,Kentucky,Dayton,Ohio,Monessen and Daisytown.  He came to Monessen in November 1937,and assumed the pastorship of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Nov. 11,1937.  He left Monessen in October 1952,and at the time of his death,was pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church,Daisytown.Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Airlean Parker;three daughters,Mrs. Lillie Tubs,of Maben,Ala.,Emma Parker,of Monessen and Mrs. Minnie Davidson of Fairfield,Ala.;five sons,Will,of Big Stone Gap,Va.,Single,of Brent,Ala.,Roscoe and George,both of Dayton,Ohio,and Nathaniel,of Chicago; a brother, Lee Parker,of Bessmer,Ala.;two sisters,Mrs. Mary Jane Crews,of Brownsville,and Mrs. Survella Fuller,of Blockton,Ala.,10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Draper Funeral Home,608 Sixth street.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday,Nov. 16,at 11 a.m. from the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. J.H.King of Clairton officiating,assisted by Rev. Maxie Smith,moderator of the Youghiogeny Western Baptist Assn.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Beverly C. Draper,funeral director.
