William Hickey,68,of Brownstown, Fayette City,died suddenly on Sunday,Oct. 2,1988,at 9:20 a.m. in his home. He was born on Aug. 15,1920,in Speers, Washington County,a son of the late William and Mattie Rodgers Hickey. Mr. Hickey was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Fayette City. He served as a gunner's mate with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Hickey retired from U.S.Steel Corporation,Duquesne Works. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Hickey. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Lindey Hickey;one daughter, Dawn E. Hickey,at home;one sister, Mrs. Herman (Vivian) Blick of Webster;and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Main Street, Fayette City,on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service with Rev. Paul Cope of Mars and Rev. Roland M. Gray of Chicora co-officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,the family requests donations be made to Christian and Missinonary Alliance Church or the charity of your choice.
