Obituary

William J. Frederick Sr., 81, of Belle Vernon, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born July 1, 1927, in Belle Vernon, he was the son of the late Spera and Flora (Tintori) Frederick. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Frederick was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and retired from Combustion Engineering in East Monongahela, where he worked as an assembler. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Frederick was a member of Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council No. 3026 and helped build and was a charter member of the East Belle Vernon Athletic Club. He also delivered Meals on Wheels. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, William Jr. and Terry Frederick, of Belle Vernon, and Daniel Frederick, of Coraopolis, one daughter and son-in-law, Maria and George Farneth, of Pittsburgh, six grandchildren, Jordan and Jared Frederick, Ross Farneth, who is currently serving with the United States Air Force, and Brian, Kristina and Justin Farneth, and two sisters, Myrna Markham and Lorraine Frederick, both of South Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Sweda) Frederick, and four brothers, Jordan, Roland, Roger and Raymond Frederick. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Thursday, Feb. 19, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. On Wednesday, members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of William J. Frederick Sr. at 3 p.m., and members of Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council No. 3026 will conduct services at 7 p.m., both in the funeral home.
