Obituary

William J. Mascara, 84, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 21,1993, at 2 a.m. in University Medical Center, Plantation, Fla. Born Aug. 27, 1909, in Belle Vernon, he was the son of the late Frank and Jessie Mascara. Mr. Mascara had lived in Florida since I960. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Margate, Fla., and a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Belle Vernon. Mr. Mascara was a former council member and the first mayor of the Borough of North Belle Vernon. He was former owner of Broad Avenue Jewelers and Appliances. Mr. Mascara was a past member and first president of the Belle Vernon Lions Club and a life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department. He was also a member of Belle Vernon Lodge 643 F&AM.  In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a brother,Frank,and two sisters,Inez and Genevieve Mascara.  Surviving are his wife of 58 years,Elsie Muir Mascara;a son, William Phil Mascara of Cincinnati,Ohio;a daughter,Beverly Mascara of Orlando,Fla.;seven grandchildren;a brother,John Mascara of Belle Vernon;and a sister,Ann Camino of Belle Vernon. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,with the Rev.James Barton,pastor of First Presbyterian Church,Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.
