William J.Bell;85;of 435 Parkway Ave.;Monessen;died Monday;Aug.19;1968;at 9:35 p.m.in Monongahela Memorial Hospital. Born in Connellsvville July 7;1883;he had lived in several Valley towns since age six. Mr.Bell was a member of carpenters Union No.1563;of which he had been president for a number of years. He had worked as a carpenter for Brownsville Construction Co.;retiring in 1955. Surviving are his widow;Dorothy Winnett Bell;two grandchildren;Richard Bell of Mt.Lebanon and William L.Bell of Denver;Colo.;four great-grandchildren;a brother;Samuel of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received at the Edwin Melenyzer Funeral Home;Monessen;after 7 p.m.Aug.20 and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.Aug.21. Service there Thursday;Aug.22;at 10:30 a.m.with the Rev.Eugene Loughran;pastor of St.Paul Episcopal Church in Monongahela;officiating. Interment;Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Edwin Melenyzer is funeral director.
