William Howard (Dotty) Sowden Sr.;82;of 611 Grant St.;Belle Vernon;died Monday;Jan.27;1975;at 11:40 a.m.in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Snowden Twp.on June 25;1892;and had lived in Belle Vernon the past 50 years. Mr. Sowden was a coal miner
and retired in 1954. He was
a member of the United Mine
Workers of America.
Surviving are his widow; Hester
Ann Steer Sowden; one son;
W. Howard Sowden Jr. of Hollywood;
Fla.; one daughter; Mrs.
Norman (Ruth) Altier of Belle
Vernon; one brother; Robert
Sowden of Roscoe; two sisters;
Mrs. Mary Ann Cotton of North
Charleroi and Mrs. Jennie Beeler
of Belle Vernon; three grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the
Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral
Home;Belle Vernon; from 7 to
9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m.at the funeral home with the Rev.Charles K.Sowden of First United Methodist Church of Fredericktown officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson is funeral director in charge.
