William Dews;81;died at midnight;June 16;1973;at his home at 122 Branthoover St.in Arnold City. He was born Feb.15;1892;at Evington;Va.;the son of the late James and Emily Dews. He was a deacon at Antioch Baptist Church;Belle Vernon. Mr. Dews was a member of Monessen Masons 79;F&AM;and National Asociation for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He was a retired coal miner. He is survived by his widow;Rosa;and two sons;James Dews of Arnold City and Thomas Hurt of Youngstown;Ohio;and four grandchildren. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Sunday at Draper Funeral Home;Monessen. Remains will be taken to Antioch Baptist Church;Belle Vernon;2 p.m.Monday where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev.A.C.Morris;pastor;officiating.
