William Darryl Patterson, 69, of Charleroi, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born Feb. 8, 1946, in New Eagle, the son of the late Raymond H. and Dorothy Mae Kennedy Patterson. Bill was a 1966 graduate of Monongahela High School. He retired from Consol Energy, was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela and a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and fishing. His grandchildren brought him the most happiness in his life. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Dobosh Patterson with whom he celebrated 41 years of marriage on May 11, 2015; two daughters, Penny Mahoney and husband, Chris, of Monongahela, and Elizabeth Schwartz and husband, David, of Charleroi; two grandchildren, Tyberius Schwartz and Piper Mahoney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Fedrick; and brother, L. Dale Patterson. Friends will be received 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, in the FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela. Funeral prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Damien of Molokai Church with the Rev. William Terza, pastor, as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
