William B. Holzapfel; 84;
of Charleroi; died Tuesday;
June 16; 2009; in Mount
Vernon of Elizabeth. He was
born March 31; 1925; in
South Strabane Township;
the son of the late Gerald
Holzapfel and Frances
Rogers Holzapfel. Bill was a
retired electrician from the
Irvin Works of USS Steel.
He was a veteran of WW II;
having served with the U.S.
Navy on the USS Izard in
the Philippines during the
Pacific Theater. Bill and his
late wife; Mary; enjoyed
many years of motorcycle
riding; with trips to
Daytona Beach; Fla. and
Ocean City; Md. He is
survived by two sons;
William B. Holzafel Jr.; of
N. Charleroi; and Myron D.
Sprawls; of Charleroi; a
daughter and son-in-law;
Linda and Wayne
Valdiserri; of Sun City
West; Ariz.; a sister and
brother-in-law; Jean and
Joseph Kay; of Florida; two
granddaughters; Daisy
Holzapfel; of Charleroi;
Billy Lee Moss; of Rockville;
Idaho; and by nieces and
nephews. In addition to his
parents; he was preceded in
death by his wife; Mary
Joyce Cook Holzapfel; and
by a daughter; Lori Sprowls-Staley. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m.Sunday in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC.AND CREMATION SERVICES;441 Reed Ave.;Monessen;(724-684-8750).
