William A. Thornton, 60, of 36 Main St.,Pricedale,died in Mercy Hospital,Pittburgh,Sunday, Dec. 10,1967 at 6 p.m. after a brief illness. Mr. Thornton, who was born in Monessen on June 24,1907,retired in 1963 from the open hearth department of the Monessen plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co. A veteran of World War II,he was a member of I.B.P.O.E. of W. 697,Monessen. Surviving are his widow,Bessie; five step-daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Madison of Shoaf,Pa.,Mrs. Fannie Reed of Flint,Mich.,Mrs. Dorothy Calloway,Mrs. Frances Smith and Sherdinia Mills,all of Monessen;three step-sons,Robert Mills of Washington,Pa.,Herbert Mills of Monessen and Melvin Mills of Uniontown;a brother, Emmett Colman of Pittsburgh;37 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home,Monessen.
