Williard S. (Hoot) Usher of Jobes St.;Elco;died Tuesday;April 4;1978 in Mercy Hospital;Pittsburgh. He was 62. Born in Fayette City;April 28;1915;he was the son of the late William and Margaret Ferguson Usher. He had been a resident of the Elco area for the last 40 years. He had retired in August 1977 from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;Allenport plant;where he had worked as a hydraulic tester operator in the No.5 finish. He was a Protestant by faith;and had been a member of the Golden Agers of Charleroi and the Elco Civic Club. Mr.Usher is survived by his widow;Aldena Haywood Usher;two sons;William Crawford of Statford;Va.;and Jack W.Usher of Allenport;one daughter;Mrs.Anthony (Margaret) Jesko of Stockdale;one sister;Hazel Usher of Elco;and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters;Ruth Eckert;in 1972;and Margaret Kelly;in 1975. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;70 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;after 7 p.m.Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Friday. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m.;with the Rev.Charles H.A.Woods;of the New Hope Parish;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
