Shot in the abdomen April 27,1940 at the home of Stephen Spears of Belle Vernon during target practice,Waren Logue II,son of Mrs. Mabel Logue of Wood street,and the grandson of John Logue,president of the Belle Vernon Water Co.died Sunday evening,May 9,1940. He was rushed to the Charleroi-Monessen hospital and lingered between life and death for more than a week as surgeons and physicians tried to help him fight off the infection which set in shortly after the accident. His intestines had been perforated a dozen places. Deputy Coroner Lawrence Frye,of Washington County,gave peritonitis as the immediate cause of death. He reported that the gunshot wound was received entirely by accident and said no inquest would be necessary. Funeral services will be held at the Logue home in Wood street Wednesday evening at 7:30,with the Rev. G. Meade Daugherty,pastor of the Belle Vernon Methodist Church,officiating. Private burial will be made in the Belle Vernon Cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday. Waren is survived by his mother and one brother,John. Also remaining are the grandparents on both sides of the family,Mr.and Mrs. Arthur J. Sellers and Mr.and Mrs.J.M. Logue,all of Belle Vernon. The little boy attended grade school in Belle Vernon and was an active member of the Junior League and Sunday school of the Methodist Church.
