Obituary

Walter R.Colvin Sr.,83,died Thursday morning June 17,1965,at 8:15 o'clock at his home,Belle Vernon R.D.4 after a long illness. Mr.Colvin was born in Fayette City,Sept.7,1881,and had lived in the Belle Vernon area the past 53 years. He was retired in 1953 from the railroad department of the Allenport Plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co. He was a member of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his widow,Bertha McEwen Colvin,a son,Walter R.Jr.of Belle Vernon R.D.4,a daughter,Mrs.Richard (Viola) Weightman of Belle Vernon R.D.4,four grandchildren,five great-grandchildren,two sisters,Mrs.Mary Jane Russell,Monongahela and Mrs.Alfred (Sue) Phillips,Homer City. Friends will be received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,after 7 p.m.June 18. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Sunday,June 20,at 2 p.m.,with the Rev.Jesse Houk,pastor of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church,and the Rev.Charles Colas,pastor of First Baptist Church,Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director.
