Obituary

Walter Hughes,72,of 26 North,Route 88,Charleroi,died Wednesday,Aug.25,1976,at 2:45 p.m.in the Charleroi Division of the Mon Valley Hospital. Mr.Hughes,a retired steelworker who was employed at the Clairton Works of U.S.Steel Corp.,was born Aug.17,1904 in Duquesne,a son of the late Washington and Mabel Hughes. He was a member of Mt.Sinai Baptist Church of North Charleroi and served on the Board of Trustees of the church. Survivors include his widow,Rosetta Hughes,nine sons,Charles Hughes of Paulsboro,N.J.,James G.Hughes,with the U.S.Marine Corps in Camp Legeune,N.C.,Philip A.Hughes of Charleroi,and Walter Jr.,George,David T.,Richard W.,John M.and Kenny Hughes,all at home,two daughters,Mrs.Marie Womack of Philadelphia and Mrs.Jeane Senton of North Bergen,N.J.,three brothers,Washington,Joseph and Marcus Hughes,all of Duquesne and 11 grandchildren. Friends will be received in the William R.Taylor Funeral Home in Monessen from 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday,Aug.26,and after 3 p.m.Friday,Aug.27,at the Mt.Sinai Baptist Church in North Charleroi until the time of service at 11 a.m.Saturday,Aug.28,with the Rev.E.W.Demps,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. William R.Taylor,funeral director,in charge of the arrangements.
