Obituary

Walter Bell, 80, of North Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at 7:15 a.m., at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Born May 11, 1924, in England, he was a son of the late Robert and Mary Curran Bell. Mr. Bell was a resident of North Belle Vernon for the past six years, having previously resided in Monessen and Elizabeth Township, where he grew up in Roberts Hollow. Mr. Bell was retired from West Penn Power, where he worked as a substation electrician 1st Class for 51 years. He was a World War II veteran, where he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a graduate of the American Television and Electronics Institute, Chicago. Member of the Haymakers Club of Finleyville, an avid historian and enjoyed discussing politics. He is survived by a stepson and daughter-in-law, James Stakias and wife, Diann, of Monessen, stepdaughter and son-in-law, Marlene Perozzi Nicolaus and husband, Lee, of North Belle Vernon, with whom he made his home, six stepgrandchildren, Josie Haertel and husband, Dart, Michael Stakias and wife, Anne, David Perozzi, Dr. Michael Perozzi and wife, Michele, Lisa Scagline and husband, Mark, and Lee Ann Nicolaus, and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vincetta Canestrale Bell, on March 29, 1999, and a twin brother, Russell Bell. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas, pastor of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
