Obituary

Walter A.Lucas of 728 Speer St.,Belle Vernon,died Saturday,Sept.14,1985,in the Haven Crest Nursing Home,Carroll township. He was 76. Mr.Lucas was born Jan.31,1909,in Freeport,a son of the late John and Mary Skibo Lucas. He was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. A former employee of Reick-McJenkin Dairy in Charleroi,he was also a member of the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. Mr.Lucas retired in 1974 with 25 years of service at the Allied Chemical Corp.,Newell. He was a veteran of World War II,having served with the Army Engineers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister,Martha Barthole,and by a brother,John Lucas. Survivors include his wife,Jean Collinet Lucas,a son,Walter C.Lucas of Hephzibah,Ga.,a daughter,Mrs.Frank (Barbara) Wisener of Belle Vernon,a sister,Mildred Kunselman of Charleroi,and five grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a prayer service will be held Wednesday,Sept.18,at 9:30 a.m.,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.Sebastian Church,Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
