Obituary

Virginia T. Mancuso Alessio, 79, of Belle Vernon, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 16, 2009 in Country Care Manor, Fayette City. A daughter of the late Santo and Lena Mancuso, she was born in Monessen on February 24, 1929. She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon, the Golden Agers and had helped the Meals on Wheels Program for several years. A resident of Belle Vernon for most of her adult life, Ginny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Survivors include two daughters, Santa Maria ‘Sandy’ Alessio Stewart of Smock and Monica l. Alessio LaCarte of Belle Vernon, four grandchildren, Thomas R. Stewart IV of Smock, Melissa Renee Drennon and husband Jerry of Dunbar, Jeb Daniel Stewart of Smock and Shanna Leigh LaCarte of Belle Vernon and eight great-grandchildren, Brittany Stewart, Krista Drennon, T. J. Stewart, Taelor Drennon, Brenden Stewart, J.J. Stewart, Brooklyn Drennon and Jordyn Drennon. Ginny was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mario Alessio on August 27, 2003, four brothers, Joseph, Vincent, Anthony and Sylvester Mancuso and one sister, Anna Corti. Friends will be received 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Monday in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. A blessing service will be in the funeral home Tuesday at 12 Noon followed by a funeral mass at 12:30 P.M. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with Rev. Lawrence Manchas, VF as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday at 3 P.M. led by members of St. Sebastian Parish.
