Obituary

Virginia Salko, 79, of Fayette City, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, in Country Care Manor, Washington Township, with her family by her side. She was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Vesta 5, a daughter of the late Frank Yensick and the late Susan Bazil Yensick. She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Pilipovich and husband, Frank, of Fayette City, son, John Salko and wife, Renee, of Fayette City, brother, Michael Yensick, of Perryopolis, six grandchildren, Susie Carol Mardis, Heather Mae Mardis Davis and husband Ronald, Julie Renee Smith and husband Anthony, John Eric Salko and friend Nancy Greer, Nichole Salko Lynch and husband Tim, and Lisa Marie Gardner and husband Justin, and four great-grandchildren, Hunter Gardner, Madison Gardner, Kolton Lynch and McKenna Lynch. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lowber Salko, on Feb. 5, 2004. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the ELEY/McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, and until 9:30 a.m. Monday, when a blessing service will take place, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian Church with Father Lawrence Manchas as celebrant.
