Obituary

Virginia M. Grant, 86, of Belle Vernon, passed away, on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Country Care Manor, Fayette City. Born in Carroll Township on May 26, 1928, the daughter of the late James J. and Ruth Brandon Nye, she was a lifelong resident of the Mon Valley. Virginia was a 1947 graduate of Donora High School and worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company from 1948 to 1964. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belle Vernon. Virginia enjoyed reading, baking and playing bingo. She was also a member of the Jednota Bowling League. However, her greatest joy came from being with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Carlisle "Lou" Grant; two brothers, Jack and Tom Nye; and two sisters, Dorothy Radic and Ruth Minetti. Virginia is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Luanne M. and Douglas Zundel of Belle Vernon and Cheryl A. and Robert M. Smith of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Zundel, Stephanie and Stacie Smith, all of Belle Vernon; brother-in-law, John Radic of Monongahela; two sisters-in-law, Nora Nye of Cokeburg and Valiere Nye of Fairless Hills, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon.http://www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Richard L. Klein officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
