Obituary

Victor L.Merlo,57,of 506 Seventh St.,Charleroi,died Saturday,Aug.2,1975,at 5:10 p.m.in Aspinwall Veterans Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Charleroi on Jan.24,1918,son of the late John and Maria Gottardi Merlo,and was a lifelong resident of the community. Mr.Merlo was a World War II veteran and has served with the U.S.Army in China,Burma and India. He was employed at Corning Glass Works,Charleroi,and belonged to the Italia Unita Club and the Corning Athletic Association,both of Charleroi. Surviving are his widow,Leona Bissiere Merlo,one son,Larry,at home,and two brothers,John Merlo and Albert Merlo,both of Charleroi. Friends will be received at the Michael A.Melinchak Funeral Home,226 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi,from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m.Monday and Tuesday. Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Frank A.Bodnar of First United Methodist Church,Charleroi,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Michael A.Melinchak is funeral director in charge.
