Victor L.Merlo;57;of 506 Seventh St.;Charleroi;died Saturday;Aug.2;1975;at 5:10 p.m.in Aspinwall Veterans Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Charleroi on Jan.24;1918;son of the late John and Maria Gottardi Merlo;and was a lifelong resident of the community. Mr.Merlo was a World War II veteran and has served with the U.S.Army in China;Burma and India. He was employed at Corning Glass Works;Charleroi;and belonged to the Italia Unita Club and the Corning Athletic Association;both of Charleroi. Surviving are his widow;Leona Bissiere Merlo;one son;Larry;at home;and two brothers;John Merlo and Albert Merlo;both of Charleroi. Friends will be received at the Michael A.Melinchak Funeral Home;226 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi;from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m.Monday and Tuesday. Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Frank A.Bodnar of First United Methodist Church;Charleroi;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
