Vernon C. Smith; 79; of Charleroi;
died Friday; June 25;
1999; in the Washington
County Health Center.
He was born Nov. 19;1919; in
Monessen; a son of the late
George and Grace Bedsworth
Smith.
Mr. Smith was a member of
the First Christian Church of
Monessen and the B.P.O.E.
Lodge 494 of Charleroi.
He was a World War II veteran;
serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a retired supervisor at
Corning Glass Works Charleroi
plant.
Survivors include his wife;
Norma Thiry Smith; a son and
daughter-in-law; Bruce and
Joann Smith of Charleroi; a
daughter; Carole Ghenne of
Charleroi; two brothers; J. Calvin
Smith and Jay Smith; both
of Monessen; and a granddaughter;
Jennifer Smith.
In addition to his parents; he
was preceded in death by his
first wife; Kathryn Wilson
Smith; and an infant daughter;
Patricia Elaine Smith.
Friends will be received Sunday
from noon until 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral
Home Inc.; 226 Fallowfield
Ave.; Charleroi. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m in the funeral home. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Monessen in memory of Vernon C.Smith. The Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
