Verda Jane Myers Williams; 87; of North Belle Vernon; died Monday; March 7; 2011; at 7:58 p.m. in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born Sept. 5; 1923; in Monessen; she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Pahel Myers. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon; Mrs. Williams was a devoted Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Belle Vernon. She was a very loving mother; grandmother and great-grandmother. Verda Jane was the tax collector for North Belle Vernon Borough for 34 years from 1971 until her retirement in 2005. She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law; Dorene Cathers; of North Belle Vernon; Janelle Williams; of North Belle Vernon; Gaye and Bill Jarzabek; of Pittsburgh; Robin and Van Speers; of Hopewell; four grandchildren; David Cathers and wife; Kathy; of Huntington; W.Va.; Anne Speers; Amie Speers and Adam Speers; all of Hopewell; and two great-grandchildren; Courtney and Brianna Cathers. She was preceded in death by her husband; Warren Williams; on April 11; 1980; a grandson; Scott Cathers; two brothers; Clifford and Chester Myers; and a sister; Loretta Read. Visitation will be held Wednesday; March 9; from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday; March 10; from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J.
