Vera M. Lomax; 82; of Monessen; passed away on Saturday; May 12; 2012; peacefully at her home. Born Sept. 16; 1929; in Georgia; she was the daughter of the late Alberta Littleton-Stanley. In addition to her parent; she was preceded in death by her husband; William Piggy Lomax Jr.; two brothers; Curtis Curly and Jesse Littleton. Vera moved to Donora at an early age with her family and attended the Donora school system; graduating in 1948. She married the love of her life; William Piggy Lomax Jr.; on July 15; 1950. Shortly after their marriage; they relocated to Brooklyn; N.Y.; where she resided until 1986 when she returned to the Mon Valley. Vera was a compassionate; extremely honest; and fiercely loyal woman who cherished her family. She was a very prayerful woman who loved the Lord. She was a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church in Donora. She will be remembered in love by her daughter; Vicky Lomax; of Monessen; one sister; Anna B. Smith; of Sorrento Springs; Fla.; one aunt; Jessie Mitchell; of Queens; N.Y.; a special nephew; Darnell Littleton; two nieces; Toni Briggs and Elanore Littleton; who served as her caretakers during her illness; and a host of other nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. Family and friends will be received on Thursday; May 17; from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Paul Baptist Church; 49 S. McKean Ave.; Donora; Pa. An additional viewing will be held at the church on Friday; May 18; from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service with the Rev. Richard Wingfield officiating. Interment will take place at Belle Vernon Cemetery.
