Obituary

Van McKinley Martin,76,of Round Hill Road,Elizabeth Twp.R.D.2,died Wednesday Jan.10,1973,at 8:30 p.m.at the McKeesport Hospital after an extended illness. Born March 8,1896,in Belle Vernon,he was a son of the late John and Kate Worrel Martin. A resident of the Belle Vernon and Elizabeth areas his entire life,Mr.Martin was a retired employee of the P&LE Railroad. He was a member of the Victory Primitive Methodist Church,Elizabeth Twp.,and the P&LE Railroad Pensioners Club. Surviving are his wife,Sadie McCorkle Martin,one daughter,Mrs.Marjorie (Ruth) Scherler of San Mateo,Calif.,two brothers,Harry of Belle Vernon,Edwin K.of Fairless Hills,one sister,Ester H.Martin of Belle Vernon,two grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m.Friday at the Lawrence W.King Funeral Home,Simpson Howell Road,Elizabeth Twp.,where services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m.with the Rev.Merle Wilson,pastor of the Victory Primitive Methodist Church,Elizabeth Twp.,officiating. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Lawrence W.King Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
