Obituary

Van Johnson of Fayette City R.D.1,died suddenly on Saturday,April 26,1986,in Charlottsville,Va. He was 56. Born in Newell on November 30,1929,he was a son of the late Van and Grace Swords Johnson. Mr.Johnson was a member of the Newell United Methodist Church and was a peacetime veteran of service in the U.S.Army. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel,Allenport Plant. Surviving are his widow,Dolores Rabatin Johnson,three sons,Edward Johnson and Larry Johnson,both at home,and Gerald (Jerry) Johnson of Charlottesville,Va.,six daughters,Mrs.Grace Freshwater of Fayette City R.D.1,Mrs.Mark (Linda) Davis of Belle Vernon R.D.,Mrs.Rita McShane of West Newton,Mrs.Dennis (Eileen) Kline of Delray Beach,Fla.,Joyce Johnson,at home,and Stacie Johnson,Morgantown,W.Va.,six grandchildren,three sisters,Mrs.Eleanor Evans of Belle Vernon,Mrs.Wayne (Murial) Murphy of West Brownsville and Cynthia Johnson of Newell. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,and on Tuesday,April 29,until 11 a.m.,at which time services will be held in the funeral home with the Rev.Edwin E.McElroy,pastor of the Newell United Methodist Church,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
