Ulah Mae Abbott; 83; of Char House; Charleroi; died Dec. 28; 2001. in Mon Valley Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born July 4; 1918; in Eastman; Ga.; a daughter of the late John Thorpe and Ollie Stanley Thorpe. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Monessen; where she served on the usher board and was a member of the service club. She was an active member of the Mon Valley Branch of the NAACP and the Senior Action Council (SAC). She is survived by one sister; Anna Bertha Thorpe-White of Belle Vernon; one godson; Maurice Jones of Monongahela; a devoted friend; Lonnie McWilliams of Monessen; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; Arthur Abbott; three brothers; John Henry Thorpe; Willie Stanley; and Samuel Thorpe Sr.; and three sisters; Audrelee Thorpe-Smith; Rubertha Stanley and Ollie Mae Thorpe. Visitation will be conducted in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Wednesday; Jan. 2; 2002; from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in Mt. Calvary Thursday; Jan. 3; 2002; at 1 p.m.; with the Rev. Griffin E. Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The WILLIAM R.
