T. William Read,63,treasurer and manager of Monessen's Pittsburgh Steel Employees Federal Credit Union since 1937,died suddenly Thursday, Dec. 5,1968 at 10 p.m. in his home at 92 Pennsylvania Ave.,Monessen. Mr. Read,who was born in Fayette City,had lived in Monessen 30 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church,Monessen,was past president and founder of the Mon Valley Chapter of Federal Credit Unions and belonged to the Founders Club. He served on several state committees for federal credit unions and was instrumental in founding the Lee-Norse Federal Credit Union in Charleroi. Mr. Read was past president and present treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Monessen,a past director of the Monessen Chamber of Commerce and belonged to Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 638,Monessen,Royal Arch Chapter,290,Monessen,McKean Commandery, Knights Templer No. 80,Charleroi and Syria Temple,Pittsburgh. Surviving are his widow, Ruth Whittlesey Read; four children;Mrs. Raymond (Laura) Byers of Sweeney Plan,Belle Vernon R.D.2,Mrs. Joseph (Ruth) Amato of Levittown,William J. of Minneapolis,Minn.,and Sandra Read of Pittsburgh;six grandchildren;two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Evans and Mrs. Edith Brightwell,both of Fayette City. Friends will be received at the H. Denver Rhome Funeral Home,Monessen,where funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 9,at 2 p.m. The Rev. Joseph Rial,pastor of First Methodist Church, Monessen and Dr. Allen J. Howes,a former pastor,will officiate. Intermenr will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. H. Denver Rhome,funeral director.
