Obituary

Thomas Turnipseed of 681 McKee Ave.,Monessen,died at his home at 6:50 a.m.Tuesday Aug.25,1970,in his sleep. He was a member of Union Baptist Church,Monessen,and Monessen Chapter of Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World (IPBOEW) where he served as a trustee,and of Joseph H.Ford Post 691 American Legion of Monessen. He served in the U.S.Army during World War I. He was retired from the Monessen Page Division,American Chain and Cable Co.,Monessen in 1955. Preceded in death by his wife,Marie,in November of 1969,he is survived by three step-sons,Cornelius Obain,Claude Garry and Robert Garry,all of Monessen,a daughter,Mrs.William (Lillian) Bronson,with whom he made his home,a step-daughter,Mrs.Clyde (Annie) Marshall,Steubenville,Ohio,four brothers,Henry,John,Willis and Jules Turnipseed,all of Baltimore,Md.,a sister,Mrs.Lillian Byrd of Columbis,S.C. Friends will be received at the Beverly C.Draper Funeral Home,Monessen,after 2 p.m.Aug.26. Funeral services will be held Friday,Aug.28,at 11 a.m.from Union Baptist Church,Monessen,with the Rev.Clyde Roston,pastor in charge. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
