Thomas Tam Coates; 81; of Fayette City; died Friday; July 4; 2003 in Sphar’s Personal Care Home. He was born May 8; 1922 in Fayette City; a son of the late George and Catherine Pochlopek Coates. He was a veteran of World War II; having served with the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife; Frances Rambaugh Coates; five brothers; Stanley; Michael; Joseph; Frank and Charles Coates; and one sister; Pauline Korch. He is survived by his son; Charles T. Coates and wife Kathy of Monessen; one daughter; Sandra Monack of Ellwood City; one brother; Peter Coates of Fayette City; and four sisters; Mary Kaufman of Largo; Fla.; Rose Homanics and husband Charles; Helen Yetsconish and Blanche Coates; all of Fayette City; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Friends will be received at the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC.; 334 Main St.; Fayette City; on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday; July 8 until 10 a.m.; the hour of service in the funeral home with Pastor Byran Cinelli officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
