Thomas M. (Birds) Haywood of Dunlevy died Sunday,Aug.10,1980, at 7:30 a.m. in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Mr. Haywood was 67. He was born Sept. 30, 1912, in Hope, Kansas, a son of the late Frank and Frances Lynn Haywood. A World War II veteran of the Merchant Marines, Mr. Haywood retired in 1974 from employment with the Allenport Works of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. He had lived most of his life in Dunlevy. Mr. Haywood was a member of the Dunlevy United Methodist Church and the Allenport Rod and Gun Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Cheti Haywood, in 1943, and by a son, Ray T. Haywood, in 1967. Survivors include his second wife Audrey Bessiere Haywood, at home; two sons, Norman W. Haywood of Geneva, Ohio, and Daniel Haywood of Charleroi; a daughter, Mrs. Keith (Sharon) Willey of Charleroi; a brother, Ray Haywood of Smyrna, Tenn.; three sisters, Margaret Haywood of Dunlevy, Mrs. Florence Jones of Monessen, and Mrs. Doris Schlitter of Berea,Ohio;and 11 grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Tuesday,from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 1 p.m.,with the Rev. Dennis M.Henley,pastor,Dunlevy United Methodist Church,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
