Obituary

Thomas J. Costella, Sr., 89, of North Belle Vernon, died Friday, October 5, 2007 at Jefferson Regional Health System, Jefferson Borough.

Born September 21, 1918 in Coal Center, he was the son of the late John and Carrie Cleaves Costella.

A resident of North Belle Vernon for the past 59 years, Mr. Costella was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church, Belle Vernon, was a retired Locomotive Engineer from P & LE Rail Road with 43 years of service and a veteran of World War II where he served in the US Army. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026, and the former Holy Name Society

The last surviving member of his immediate family he is survived by his wife Hazel M. Staup Costella to whom he was married 65 years

He is preceded in death by 5 brothers, Frank, Charles, John, David and Louis Costella and 3 sisters Carrie Bissell, Catherine Brown and Isabel Toth.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and from at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.

Prayer Service will be held Monday at 1:30 pm in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 2:00 pm at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas V.F. Pastor as celebrant.

Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Thomas J. Costella Sunday at 3 PM, Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services Sunday at 7 PM and the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus will hold services Sunday at 7:30 PM all in the funeral home.
