Thomas H. "Butch" Johnson, 67, of Whitsett, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, March 9, 2015, with his wife by his side. Born in Connellsville, Jan. 4, he was the son of the late Herbert Mills and Roberta Johnson-Holbrook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Antoinette Diggs and Alice Hill who raised him. Thomas graduated from Monessen High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970, receiving an honorable discharge. He was previously employed by the United States Postal Service for 32 years of outstanding service at the Wicker Park Post Office, Chicago, Ill., and the Operations Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon his retirement, Thomas moved back home to Pennsylvania. When he came out of retirement, he worked for Sony and currently Walmart. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia L. Johnson of Whitsett; one son, Thomas H. Johnson Jr. of Miami, Fla.; stepsons, Maurice A. (Shaulana) Washington, Gregory E. (Emma) Washington; stepdaughter, Marquise D. (Casey) Harris; mother-in-law, Ida (Sonny) Brown, all of Cleveland, Ohio; three sisters, Patricia "Cookie" Seay of Las Vegas, Yvonne "Pam" (Andre Phillips) Holbrook and Jacqueline T. (Keith) Holbrook-Hill, both of Chicago; sister-in-law, Sharon Woods; brothers-in-law, Anthony (Candy) Washington, Herbert (Quana) Washington, Randy Washington, Michael (Terri) Washington, Wyndell Washington and Rueben (Ebony) Dixon, all of Cleveland; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of loving relatives, co-workers and friends. Friends and family will be received 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 16 and 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 17, followed by funeral services at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 230 Reed Ave., Monessen, officiated by the Rev. Donna Lowe. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
