Obituary

Thomas Dean Liptrot,65,of Fairhope,died Monday, Aug. 1,1955 at 12:30 p.m. in the King's Daughters Hospital,Portsmouth,Va. He was visiting with his daughter,Mrs. C. B. Buchanan,Jr.in Portsmouth when he became ill 12 days ago. He was born in England,Jan. 6,1890,was a member of the Marion Presbyterian Church and was active in Boy Scout work.  He was also a past member of the Mon-Yough Boy Scout Council.  He was a veteran of World War I when he served with the British Field Artillery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Liptrot;one son,William,of Bethlehem;one daughter, Mrs. Buchanan,of Portsmouth and three grandchildren.  Also surviving are one brother,Jack and five sisters, Mrs. Jack Darbyshire,Mrs. Charles Townley,Mrs. George Hall,Mrs. Jack Hoyes and Mrs. William Jenkins,all in England. Friends will be received at the Melenyzer-Ferguson Funeral Home during hours of 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.  Services will be held there Friday,August 5,1955,at 2 p.m.,in charge of Rev. George Guest.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Chas. L. Melenyzer and Shelby D. Ferguson are the funeral directors.
