Theodore Yachup; 85; of Fairhope; Belle Vernon; passed away Saturday; April 5; 2014; in Thorpe’s Personal Care Home; Charleroi. A son of the late Walter C. and Edna Rhodes Yachup; he was born in Jacobs Creek on April 17; 1928. Ted graduated from South Huntingdon High School. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon; Fairhope Rod and Gun Club; Charleroi Fishing Club and was a life member of the Fayette City American Legion Post 484. A resident of Fairhope for over 50 years; Ted was an avid outdoorsman and loved gardening and fishing with his friend John Hayes and traveling. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War; serving from 1950 to 1952. He served with the Military Police of the 1st Calvary; 7th regiment; Korea; one year on Hokkaido Island of Japan; and the 3rd armored division; Ft. Knox; Ky. He retired in 1983 from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company as a machine operator. Survivors include his wife of 61 years; Margaret Peggy Parnelli Yachup; one son and daughter-in-law; Ted and Missy Yachup of Washington Grove; Md.; two daughters and sons-in-law; Peggy and Joseph Mendola of Monessen; and Amy and Jay Finan of Brunswick; Ohio; five grandchildren; Jenna Teets (Bo); Kristin Vigliotti (Anthony); all of Monessen; Grayson Yachup of Washington Grove; Md.; and Jacob and Ethan Finan; both of Brunswick; Ohio; three great-grandchildren; Anthony and Tristin Vigliotti and Lyla Teets; one sister; Jean Lewis of Belle Vernon; one brother; Max Yachup of Smithton; and one nephew; Dusty Lewis (Marsha) of Belle Vernon.
