Theodore Jack Chalfant;65;of 214 Wood St.;Belle Vernon;died suddenly Tuesday;Oct.25;1994;in Mon Valley Hospital Inc.;Carroll Township. Born June 19;1929;in Speers;he was the son of the late Ewing S.and Mildred Fechter Chalfant. A resident of Belle Vernon for 43 years; Mr. Chalfant was a member of First United Methodist
Church.
He was financial secretary
and past president of Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Company
No. 2. and was currently serving as vice president of Belle
Vernon Council. Mr. Chalfant
had over the years served several terms on council.
He was also chairman of the
Christmas Light Fund Committee in Belle Vernon.
He retired in 1991 from U.S.
Steel; where he had served 37
years at the data processing
center.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife; Uarda
Tiny Gray Chalfant; with
whom he would have celebrated
43 years of marriage on Dec. 22;
five daughters; Cynthia Malaga
and Mrs. Donald (Jacqueline)
DeWitt; both of Charleroi; Mrs.
Ken (Janice) Gray of Dunlevy;
Luann Madden of Belle Vernon
and Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Snyder of Belle Vernon;one brother;Harry K.Chalfant of Pasadena;Calif.;and nine grandchildren;Steven and Chad Madden;Joshua;Jesse and Ryan Gray;Emilee and Robert Lenhart and Shane and Shelly Snyder. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where a memorial service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m.with the Rev.Dr.Thomas St.Clair officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.
