Obituary

Theodore J. Shlanta, 59, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Nov. 18, 1942, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late J. Elmer and Mary (Yachup) Shlanta. Mr. Shlanta was a retired chemistry and physics teacher for the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. He was past vice president of Baldwin Federation of Teachers, a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Belle Vernon and Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Whitehall and a member of the Carpatho-Rusyn Society. He was also a collector of fine art and an amateur genealogist. He is survived by numerous cousins and close friends. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, Whitehall, for a funeral service, with Father Rajko Kosic officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Rostraver Township. Pomen service Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
