Obituary

Theodore A. "Ted" Capuano, 92, of Monessen, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at 12:30 a.m., in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born Dec. 23,1907, in Monessen, a son of the late Salvatore and Mary Grace (Vito) Capuano. He retired in 1972 after working for 47 years with U.S. Steel at the Irvin Works, in the Tin Plate Division. He was a trumpet player for the Frank Lombardo (Barr) Orchestra, playing at the Twin Coaches and other valley towns during the Big Band era. He played in the Monessen Firemen's Band and the Belle Vernon and Clairton Musical Bands. He was a charter member of the M.A.R.S. Band, playing the drums, retiring when he was 83 years of age. He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monessen and the AARP Chapter #2753 of Monessen. Survivors include his wife, Marie Arrigo Capuano, with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Feb. 9, 2000; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Domineck Sabatini of Brownsville, Lynette and Edward Kouche II of Wooster, Ohio, and Cynthia and Kevin Conner of Pittsburgh; one son and daughter-in-law, Theodore and Donna Capuano Jr. of Fort Myers, Fla.; one brother, Antonio Capuano of Italy; one sister-in-law, Olga Capuano of Rostraver Township; one niece, Elise Silko of Rostraver Township; eight grandchildren, Mia Sabatini, Jodi Johnson, Dr. Dominic Sabatini, Edward and Robert Kouche, Vincent and Christopher Capuano, and Colin Conner; and four great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Samantha and Joel Johnson, and Ryan Anthony Kouche. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Romualdo and Amedeo Capunno; and one sister, Settimia Capuano. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. A Blessing will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass in the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Monessen. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
