Obituary

Thelma LaVonne Reed, 79, of Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, in Havencrest Nursing Center. A daughter of the late James and Alfaretta Soles White, she was born in Belle Vernon on Dec. 26, 1927. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. LaVonne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and had been active in her church. Survivors include her husband, Paul Reed Jr., with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage on Aug. 24, 2007, two daughters and one son-in-law, Dorothy S. Reed, of Belle Vernon, and Cynthia and William Morgan, of Charleston, S.C., two sons, Paul Scott Reed and Daniel Reed, both of Belle Vernon, four sisters, Audrey Vertosnik, of Cleveland, Ohio, Patricia Parsons, of Belle Vernon, Gwen Vanaman, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sandra Revak, of Youngstown, Ohio, one brother, Edward White, of Fayette City, six grandchildren, Brandi, Michael and Anthony Garofalo, Paige and Dalton Reed and Ginger Morgan, and five great-grandchildren, Dillion Casaus, Isabella, Cameron and Hunter Garofalo, and Kayla Conrad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and James White. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC., www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com, 724- 929-5300, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Suzanne Currie officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Officers of the First Presbyterian Church will meet in the funeral home to hold services Friday at 2 p.m.
