Sylvester Shorter;86;of Pricedale;went home to be with the Lord on Friday;Nov.12;1999;while in the Greenery Nursing Home;Canonsburg. He was born July 29;1913;in Pricedale;a son of the late Samuel and Nettie Shorter. Mr.Shorter was previously employed for 37 years at Page Wire Mill;and for 15 years with Rostraver Township. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Thomasina Davis Shorter in 1979. Survivors include two daughters;Judith Banks of Columbia;S.C.;and Linda Johnson of Monessen;five sons;Richard of Montclair;Calif.;Byron of Clinton;Md.;James of Richmond;Calif.;Robert of Virginia Beach;Va.;and Erik of Sacramento;Calif;14 grandchildren;two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Antioch Baptist Church;Henry Street;Belle Vernon;on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will also be held at Antioch Baptist Church;on Wednesday;Nov.17;at 1 p.m.;with the Rev.Clifford Carter;pastor;officiating.
