Sylvester Corley;65;of 1001 Third Street;Charleroi;died Sunday;Jan.16;1977 at 1:05 a.m.in Presbyterian University Hospital;Pittsburgh. Mr.Corley was born in Statesboro;Ga.;on Nov.6;1911;a son of the late Albert and Mary Ann George Corley. He was a retired employee of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a member of Mt.Calvary Baptist Church and the F&AM Lodge 79;both of Monessen. Mr.Corley is survived by two sons;Merle Corley Tansmore of Gary Ind.and Sylvester Corley Jr.with the U.S.Air Force in Kolsas;Norway;one daughter;Mrs.Henry (Geraldine) Whitfield of Cleveland;Ohio;two brothers;Lucious Corley and Major Corley;both of Monessen;three sisters;Mrs.Jack (Marie) Little;Mae Berta Jones and Laverne Crenshaw;all of Monessen;16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the William R.Taylor Funeral Home;Monessen;from 7 to 9 p.m.Wednesday;Jan.19;and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday;Jan.20. Services will be held Friday;Jan.21;at 1 p.m.in Mt.Calvary Baptist Church of Monessen;with the Rev.E.Archie;officiating. A Masonic service will be held Thursday;Jan.20;at 8 p.m.in the funeral home.
