Obituary

Steve Sweda, age 90, of Arlington, TX, formerly of Gillespie, Fayette City, PA.,  passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 in Town Hall Estates, Arlington Texas, with his loving daughter Marlene at his side. Steve was born on September 13th, 1926 in Fayette City, PA, son of Michael Sveda Sr., and Catherine (Blasko) Sveda. Steve lived most of his life in Gillespie, PA.  He then moved to Arlington Texas the last six years of his life to live with his only daughter, Marlene Sweda.  He retired from Corning Glass Works in Charleroi, PA after 46 years of service.  He then spent all his time with the love of his life, Margaret (Sekerak) Sweda  (deceased January 2011).      Steve was a veteran of the U. S. Army.  His service was in the Philippine Islands. He was also a member of the VFW and the Brightwell-Daughtery Post 484 American Legion, Fayette City,Pa. Survivors include his daughter Marlene Sweda of Arlington, TX., sister-in law, Margaret J. Sveda of Fayette City,Pa, sister-in-law, Irene Crown of Plymouth Michigan, nieces Carol Voytek of Ohio and Monica Nalevanko (Bob) of Fayette City,Pa.; nephews, Edward Arth (Martha) of Ohio, Robert Crown (Jewel) of Michigan, Gary Crown (Susan) of Kentucky; great uncle to Richard Voytek(Danielle) and Karen Voytek (Steve Assid) of Ohio and Mallie Nalevanko; great great uncle to Anthony Voytek .  He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Margaret Sweda; his brother, Michael Sveda, Jr. and three sisters, Mary Voytek (Joseph), Donna Sveda and Ann Arth (Edward) and nephews Dick and Robert Voytek. Family and Friends will be received on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home, Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, Pa. 724-326-5621,www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com.  Blessing service will take place Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Stephen Wahal officiating.  Interment  Belle Vernon Cemetery with full military rites accorded by Post 484 Honor Guard.
