Obituary

Steve Koschalk,78,of 629 Graham St.,Belle Vernon,died suddenly on Thursday,March 9,1989,at 3:25 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital.  He was born Jan. 5,1911,in Calumet, a son of the late Wassyl and Mary Smolly Koschalk.  A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Koschalk was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church. He was a veteran of World War II,having served with the U.S.Army Combat Engineers.  He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659,and of REAP.  Mr. Koschalk retired in 1968 as a grinder in the tube mill division of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Allenport plant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Michael Koschalk,and four sisters, Pearl Eleconich,Anna Kozak,Helen Felak and Bertha. Surviving are his wife, Almeda Tucci Koschalk; one son, Jack S. Koschalk of belle Vernon; one daughter,Mrs David (Linda) Fields of Las Vegas, Nev.;five grandchildren, Lauren,Jon and Matthew Fields and Douglas and Nicole Koschalk;and one sister, Mrs. Mary Duren of Newport, Ark.Friends will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church,Mary Street, Belle Vernon, with the Rev. John Kluchko,pastor,officiatng. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.  Parastas services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.  Arrangements are bieng handled by the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home.
