Obituary

The body of Steve Domonkos,60,of Belle Vernon,R.D.3,Rostraver Twp.,was found in the Monongahela River near Gibsonton late Sunday morning April,25,1960. The victim,who had been missing from his home since Friday,was fully clothed when his body was recovered at 10:40 a.m.near the banks of the river along property owned by Pittsburgh Steel Co. His body was seen floating in the river by Charles Mosier of Brownsville,a conductor of the steel firm's slag train. Mosier notified mill police. Two employees of the firm,John Dacko,Monessen,and Harry Gilmore,Belle Vernon R.D.,using a small boat,pulled the body to shore. The victim was identified by a brother,Frank,of Belle Vernon. Westmoreland County Coroner Stephen D.Yoney,Monessen,said Mr.Domonkos,a retired coal miner,had been ill the past several years. Death was by drowning. Besides his brother,Frank,the victim is survived by his mother,Julia,and another brother,Joseph,both of Belle Vernon,and two sisters,Mrs.Steve (Margaret) Smith of Pricedale,and Elizabeth,also of Belle Vernon. Friends are being received at Toner Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held Monday,April 25,1960,in charge of Rev.Victor Bednar of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church,Brownsville,with interment following in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
