Steve Cmar; 82; of Belle Vernon; formerly of Brownstown; died Friday; Jan. 24; 2003; in the Cherry Tree Nursing Center. He was born Aug. 4; 1920; in Monessen; a son of the late Anthony and Helen Chornack Cmar. He was a member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church; Fayette City; and a veteran of World War II; having served with the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife; Kathryn Melarkey Cmar; with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage on Oct. 10; 2002; their children: Steven J. Cmar and wife Patsy of Belle Vernon; and Patricia Ann Stewart of Allenport; three grandchildren; Darcy Lee Stewart; Robert Jason Stewart and Shaun Lee Cmar; a sister-in-law; Dorothy Kozar; and a dear friend; Daryl Moody of Fayette City. There will be no public viewing. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church; Fayette City; with the Rev. Leonard McAlpin as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the ELEY/McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC.; Fayette City.
