Obituary

Stephen G. Antal, 79, of 308 Fell St., Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at 11:13 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Aug. 17,1919, in Belle Vernon, a son or the late Martin and Agnes Golema Antal Sr. He was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon community. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, having served as a technical sergeant in the Pacific Theater as an intelligence officer. He was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, Belle Vernon Area VFW Post 699 and Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026. He was retired from the Fisher Body Plant, West Mifflin, where he was employed as a dye setter. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Agnes Melanowski Antal, three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Linda Antal of Belle Vernon, Ronald and Mary Esther Antal of Belle Vernon, and Stephen J.and Mary Antal of Ravena,Ohio,and one daughter and son-in-law,Patti and Bill Peden of Smithton,one brother,Joseph Antal of Belle Vernon,three sisters,Elizabeth Lucas,Sophie Nusser and Stella Trenk,all of Belle Vernon,nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by two brothers,Martin Antal Jr.and John Antal,and four sisters,Pauline Antal,Ann Cernicky,Helen Bassar and Mary Leonard. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. A Prayer service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,with the Rev.Donald P.Trexler,parochial vicar,as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. On Friday at the funeral home,the Legion of Mary will recite the Rosary at 3 p.m.,Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026 will hold services at 7 p.m.,Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services at 7:30 p.m.and Belle Vernon Area VFW Post 699 will conduct services at 8 p.m. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
