Obituary

Sgt.Stephen D.Wood,22, of 99 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Croughton, England, on Friday, June 13,1975. He had been stationed at the Upper Hayford Air Force Base in England. Sgt. Wood, son of Harrison and June Stark Wood of Stockdale, was born in Scott Haven, Pa. on April 9, 1953. He was graduated from Charleroi Area High School in 1971 and entered the service on Aug. 16, 1972. After undergoing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base. San Antonio, Texas, he was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base in Homestead, Fla. and later attended Munitions Maintenance Training School at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colo. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his widow, Ernily Molle Wood, one son, Stephen Emile, three brothers, Robert Wood of Stockdale, Thomas Wood of Smithton and Harrison Wood Jr. of West Newton R.D., one sister, Mrs. Daniel (Ira) Rabatin of Perryopolis R.D., paternal grandmother, Mrs. Irene Wood of Lesh. Pa : maternal grandfather, Thomas Stark of Perryopolis, and maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Senie Wolfe of Allenport. Friends will be received in the Raymond D.Dalfonso Funeral Home in Monessen from 7 until 9 p.m.on Thursday,June 19,1975,and from 2 until 4 p.m.and 7 until 9 p.m.on Friday,June 20,1975,where a Blessing service will be held on Saturday,June 21,1975,at 9 a.m.followed by a Mass of Christian services at 9:30 a.m.in St.Cajetan Catholic Church of Monessen,with the Rev.P.Lino Ramellini as the celebrant. Military services will be conducted by officers and men of Rickenbacker Air Force Base of Columbus,Ohio. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Raymond D.Dalfonso,funeral director in charge.
