Obituary

Stella Bice Yanak, 97, of Carmichaels, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg. Born June 24, 1912, in Novakovec, Croatia, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Jankovich Bice. A resident of Carmichaels for the past 41 years, having previously resided in Waynesburg, Mrs. Yanak was a member of St. Hugh's Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels, was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and watching cooking shows. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Jean Rinehart, of San Antonio, Texas, two daughters-in-law, Charlene Yanak, of Brownsville, and Nellie Yanak, of Waynesburg, a sister, Dorothy Bice Halgus, of Belle Vernon, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a dear friend, Wilma Cyd Philips. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Yanak Sr., two sons, Robert and Michael Yanak Jr., three sisters, Ruth McGinsky, Mary Mrkobrad and Milka Magic, and a brother, Dragec Bice. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas, pastor of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
