Stanley (Stoney) Coates;89;of Arnold City (Belle Vernon);died Saturday;Dec.7;1996;in the Monongahela Valley Hospital;Inc.;following a short illness. He was born in Webster Feb.19;1907;a son of the late George and Catherine Pochlopek Coates. Mr.Coates was a retired coal miner and a member of St.Joseph National Catholic Church of Fairhope. Surviving are his wife;Lena Belsick Coates;a daughter and son-in-law;Jeanne and Reo Lazzari of Belle Vernon;a son and daughter-in-law;Ronald and Joyce Coates of Greenville;five grandchildren;Thomas and Darren Lazzari;Robin Haney;Lynne Nattoli and Christine Coates;two great-grandchildren;three brothers;Michael Coates;Peter Coates and Thomas Coates;all of Fayette City R.D.;and four sisters;Mary Kaufman of Largo;Fla.;Mrs.Charles (Rose) Homanics;Mrs.Michael (Helen) Yetsconish and Blanche Coates;all of Fayette City R.D. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by three brothers;Charles;Frank and Joseph Coates;and a sister;Pauline Korch. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;and on Tuesday until 10:30 a.m.;when a Blessing service will be held with the Rev.Felix Pyzowski officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery;Belle Vernon. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
